UK Status Resident. Widely distributed and locally common throughout the British Isles as far north as the Outer Hebrides. Montgomeryshire Status First recorded in 2010 at Llanymynech Rocks in the north east of the county. Wingspan : M & F, 13-18mm. Confusion species E. cnicicolana. |

(Bivoltine)  Habitat Uncultivated ground, meadows, cuttings and sandhills. Foodplant Ragwort. Lifestage data Stem feeder and root borer. Eggs laid on foodplant. Larva lives and feeds in the root and/or stem. Pupates in a silken cocoon in the leaf litter. |
